Tips for choosing a hair cut – Everything you need to consider…
A new hair cut can be exciting and the perfect way to add style to your look.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to a new cut, whether you just want a subtle change or something really adventurous. But, the biggest question we get asked at k2 Hair Design…
Will it suit me?
There are many factors to consider when browsing hair inspiration online. Here are some tips to think about when you’re choosing your new look…
Have you tried a new style but felt there was something, not right? Your locks might look fantastic, but if the cut doesn’t suit you face shape, it could unbalance your features and not enhance your look.
The main face shapes are oval, square, round, heart and oblong. Do some research to find out which one you are, and which cuts would suit you best. (Of course you can get whatever style you want, but it is interesting to see which style is recommended for your face!)
Does your hair have curly or wavy texture? Consider this when choosing a new cut. For example, if you want a super sleek bob, this may be difficult to maintain if you have very textured hair.
On the other hand, if you want a curly and textured pixie cut but have very sleek, straight hair, there may be a lot of work to keep up with this style.
Practicality… the one word that probably doesn’t spring to mind when you’re dreaming of your fresh new cut. But, it is definitely worth a thought.
Do you have an extremely busy schedule that doesn’t leave much time for styling? Then try to find a cut that is low maintenance.
Or do you like to spend time to perfecting your style? Then the (hair) world is your oyster!
Consultation is always vital to getting your perfect haircut, which is why we provide them to every customer at our Wolverhampton hairdressers before we start your transformation.
If you have any worries about your hair or issues you would like to tackle, let us know in the consultation so we can work around this and give you a beautiful cut that is perfect for you.
Inspirational short hair cuts for women
Although a lot of women dream of long, natural, flowing locks, in reality it can be difficult to manage and may not flatter your face.
Short hair cuts can be edgy, fashionable and give you an incredibly stylish look. Short hair is certainly not boring and there are so many styles to choose from…
Pixie is still a broad term when it comes to a short style. There is super short, blunt, wispy, undercut and much more. A pixie cut is perfect for oval or round face shapes and can make you look fresh and youthful. It is the perfect way to show off your cheek bones and bone structure.
Also a vague term when it comes to short cuts. There any many different bob styles, include A-line, textured, tilt bob and lob. The main difference is the way these styles are cut. To give you more insight into the world of bobs, here are some brief explanations.
An A-line bob is where the hair is slightly longer at the front, giving a light and airy feel. A lob is also slightly longer but all the way round, usually just below the shoulders (lob = long bob).
Don’t panic, we aren’t talking about the frightening DIY jobs that you may have witnessed in the 70s and 80s. Bowl cuts have come back in style with a bang and done correctly they can be super cool and edgy.
There are many ways to style a bowl cut, such as with layers, texture, a fringe, asymmetry and more.
Haircut Styles 2018 – A cut above the rest
A hairstyle with textured layers and a mid length cut has always looked cool and effortless, but it has gained huge popularity this year. The ‘lob’ (long bob) is especially popular as it is easy to maintain and so versatile.
Make it your own by taking it a little shorter or have it past your shoulders if you’re comfortable with more length. Try adding some shorter layers at the front to frame your face and add a fringe to go for an edgy look.
Is a laid-back beachy look not your style? Then ask for a sharp, blunt cut to create your unique look.
How often should I cut my hair?
How often you cut you hair can depend on a few factors. On average, the hair on your head grows about 1.25cm every month. If you have a short cut that you want to maintain, we recommend you get a trim around every 6 weeks. If you are looking to grow it out, leave it a little longer between appointments.
If you have long hair and you want to keep the length, it is important to get regular trims approximately every 8 weeks. This is to minimise split ends and keep it nice and healthy.
